Here’s a book which looks very relevant to those of us who want to take idols and the wota subculture in a larger theoretical perspective. I especially like the discussion of modernity versus postmodernity and how it applies to otaku, as well as the issue of consumerism. I’m thinking this could be as useful a cornerstone work as the 33 1/3 book on Celine Dion.
