This is an interesting move, shows how seriously Big Bang wants to make in-roads with Japanese music fans. What I’d like to see is G Dragon duet with Gackt – call it Gackt Dragon or something, have them both bare their asses in the music video.

They beat out competition that included Scandal, who waited with pipes and chains in the women’s room for G Dragon to come in and freshen up.

I’d personally like to see G Dragon’s ass kicked by a bunch of schoolgirls – but alas, they’re only dueling it out for Best New Artist. That said, there’s interesting choices in both the Best Song Category – Exile, Girl Next Door, Ikimono-Gakari, among others – as well as Best Album – Hirahara Ayaka, Greeeen, Superfly. And what’s this about a Special Award for AKB48 and Aki-P?

Seriously, though, BoA’s been a Japanese act for so long and DBSK’s made its mark that it just seemed inevitable that they and Big Bang (who’ve been making a real strong push) would all hit the top ten on the same week.

Apparently this is routine, and the reason given is that DaeSung’s performance was subpar, given his ongoing recovery. That said, I still think the dramatic power of seeing him come back overrides such concerns. After all, aren’t Kpop boy bands all about drama drama drama right now?

Some interesting facts about the concert, perhaps the best one being the request from management that the 2PM and Big Bang performances not be aired on television. 2PM I can understand, but Big Bang’s was something of a triumph with DaeSung returning to stage.
